Obituary of Maria Irene Ruiz
Our beloved Maria Irene Ruiz, age 66, resident of San Marcos was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents: Benito & Cruz Garcia; and; brother, Arturo Garcia.
Irene, or peony as her brothers liked to call her was born in Abram, TX. She helped raise her brothers and sisters. She was always looking out for everyone else. She would always say, “they need it more than I do.” She made the best tortillas and buñuelos and tamales. And she loved her diet coke. She was kind-hearted and never had an issue with anyone. Whenever anyone needed to talk to someone, they would always call Irene. She loved playing Candy Crush and watching WWE wrestling. She loved crocheting things for her loved ones and making jewelry. She never wanted to be burden on anyone and was the most selfless person you ever met. There wasn’t anyone that met her that didn’t love her. Most people that met her would say, “She was like a mom to us.” She was always sassy and funny.
She is survived by her son, Andy Ruiz and his wife Felicia, her daughter Rosie Strother and her husband Patrick, her sisters Haralia Garcia and her husband Kelly Davis, Maria Antonia Cariker and Richard Real, her brothers Joe Garcia and his wife Cindy, Benito Garcia, Jesse Garcia, John Garcia and Roy Garcia.
