A LETTER FROM LUCY GAMEZ

I was so sorry to hear about Rosemary's passing.  It really breaks my heart.  She was such an inspiration to me!  I so loved having her help with the New Life retreats and having her in charge of ringing the bell, but especially when she participated in a skit where she played a butterfly.  It brought me such joy to watch her flutter her wings!  I was always amaxzed at how involved she was despite her illness and how she never gave up hope of getting a kdney.  She was a true example of faith for me.  I will pray for her and your family.  I know that she has moved on to the next world and I pray that she has seen the face of Jesus and that he has cured her of all of her earthly illnesses and that she is experiencing nothing but peace and joy with our Heavenly Father.  May God Bless you.

Rosemary De Leon was a very courageous and faithful person, known to her friends and family as either, “Rosie” “Rosita” or “Rosa.” to her older nephews & nieces, she was known as “Pacos”. Rosie started her journey with the Lord in 1992 when she gave her life to Jesus after going through some hard times.  Once she gave her life to Him, (Jesus-her Beloved), she never looked back.  She loved Jesus and did not mind talking to others about him.  As mentioned by Lucy Gamez, “she inspired so many with her strong faith because in spite of her illnesses she served the Lord” She served the Lord by making her Cursillo, attended an ACTS retreat, the New Life/Evangelization retreats, was a Guadalupana, and taught religious education.  In addition, Rosemary loved going to mass, adoration, participating in the rosary and prayer meetings.  She loved praising the Lord when listening to her Christian music; often raising her hands in the air to show her love for him.  Her favorite hobbies included: coloring/painting, eating out (her favorite place to eat was Garcia’s), going to the movies (Star Wars and Twilight were her favorite movies), she could watch these movies over and over again, and act like she was seeing them for the first time.  The ROCK, Dwayne Johnson was her favorite actor, Friends was her favorite TV show and she also could see the episodes over and over again and would act like she was seeing a particular episode for the first time.  She enjoyed going to Lori’s hair design to get her hair done and she especially liked going shopping with her niece, Aissa.  Rosie’s favorite vacation spot was going to San Juan, to La Virgin del Valle, Catholic Church.  Rosemary loved her brother and sisters as well as her numerous nephews and nieces.  She made many lifelong friends, who would always come to her aid any time she needed help.  Even though Rosie struggled in life with her poor health, she never struggled with her faith with God.  She never let the “little” things or “big” things bother her, and always made the best of what was going on.  In conclusion, it was because of the Glory given to her by Jesus, for the love she had for him, that she was able to endure the cross and serve him well.  Rosemary will be missed by so many, and her legacy will continue by those whose lives she has touched and those that have been touched today.  She verbally mentioned she was ready to be with Him, not to avoid the cross of her suffering, but because she was in-love with Him, and ready to spend eternal life with him, I his glory.  We thank everyone for being here today to participate in Rosie’s funeral mass, to her it “would be a wedding celebration”, married to the man she fell in love with (Jesus Christ) in 1992.

She is survived by her brothers, Jose De Leon, Manuel De Leon, Asencion De Leon Jr., Cristobol De Leon, Guadalupe David De Leon, Dino De Leon, and John Edward De Leon; sisters, Benita Rodriguez, Angela Alvarez, Anita De Leon, Mary Carmen Dismuke, and JoAn De Leon; and with numerous nieces & nephews and with other loving family and friends.
