Obituary of Ventura Ramirez
Our beloved Ventura M. Ramirez (Benny), resident of San Marcos, was received in the hands of our Heavenly Father on November 9, 2018 at the age of 89, Born July 14, 1929 in San Antonio he was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43yrs.: Maria Gloria Ramirez; parents: Francisco & Juanita Ramirez; brother: Francisco Ramirez; sisters: Rufina Vasquez, Anita Ramirez, Francisca Munoz, and Eustolia Barrera; other precious family members, Eusebio Vasquez, Benecio Barrera, Lawrencio Munoz Sr., Angela Ramirez, Frank Pescina Ramirez, Luisa Ramirez, Benita Ramirez, Tony Aislinn Ramirez, Rene Pescina Ramirez, Lawrencio Munoz Jr., Edward Perez, Melissa Acosta Vasquez, Antonio Barrera, Teresa Barrera, Alexandro Barrera, Irene Barrera, Bobby Barrera, Gilbert Barrera, Mary Barrera, Pedro Abrigo, Ernesto Barrera and Paula Barrera. Ventura honored his family and country serving in the Korean War.
Ventura joined the Army in November 1950 a Private 1st Class who proudly served in the Korean War. Then transferred to the Army Reserve in October 1952 where he was honorably discharged October 1956. After returning to civilian life in 1957, he married his sweetheart Maria Gloria Barrera and made San Marcos, Texas his place of residence. He attended Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College and Pan American College. Ventura was a simple yet deeply respected man to all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and his children. In his past time he enjoyed a game cards & dominoes. Ventura attended church at St. John’s Catholic Church where he also served as an usher and was a member of the San Marcos Chapter VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and a Member of the Knights of Columbus. But nothing meant more to him than his family, especially the grandchildren and the great grandchildren. We thank the Lord for giving him to us for as long as we had him … “we love you!” Your spirit lives with us and your legacy will always continue.
He is survived by his sons, Francisco Antonio Ramirez Sr. & wife Julia of Plano, TX. and, Rolando Ramirez & wife Laura of Rowlett, TX.; daughters, Rosalinda Ramirez of San Marcos, TX., Maria Gloria Luna & husband Deacon Cristobal of San Marcos, TX., Susana Ramirez of San Marcos, TX., Leticia Ramirez of San Marcos, TX., and Alice Behal & husband Todd of New Braunfels, TX.; brother, Marcelo Ramirez & wife Gloria of Laredo, TX.; grandchildren, Francisco Antonio Jr. & wife Saida, Joseph Michael Ramirez and wife Anais, Marjorie Anna Gann & husband Mason, Juliann Teresa Jordan and husband Alex, Brandy Kaye Luna, James Patrick Luna and wife Ruth Ann, Stephanie Christine Luna, Ebbie Ramirez, Annjelika Ramirez, Frankie Xavier Ramirez, & wife Lydia, Rolando Ramirez Jr. and wife Karla, Laura Ann Pena and husband Luis, Amanda Thunhurst, and husband Steven, Christopher Ramirez, and Elizabeth Behal; great grandchildren, keixa Lopez, Amelia Ramirez, Zayna Ramirez, Fernando Ventura Ramirez, Aliana Ramirez, Larkin Luna , Kellen Luna, Cameron Salas, Aaron Ramirez, Alyssa Ramirez, Madelyn Ramirez, Donovan Pena, Olivia Pena, Sophia Thunhurst, Amaya Thunhurst, Elliot Mateo Ramirez, and Katalea Luna Ramirez; with numerous nieces & nephews and many more other loving family and friends.
Visitation will begin 5:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., at Los Angeles Funeral Home … 300 Cheatham St. … San Marcos, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church … 624 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, Texas … Rev. Father Jairo Lopez will officiate. Interment will follow in San Marcos City Cemetery in San Marcos, Texas with Full Military Honors..
