Obituary of Sofia Cordero

Our beloved Sofia Cordero, age 97, resident of San Marcos was called by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 30, 2018.  Sofia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 20yr., Cresenciano Cordero Sr.; sons, Pablo Cordero, and Criscenciano Cordero Jr.; parents, Pedro & Catalina Martinez 5 brother, and 1 sister.

Our grandmother loved working on her garden, loved taking care of her animals, and most of all she loved sewing and knitting.  She also enjoyed playing Viejito card game and Loteria Mexican Bingo.  We are going to miss her cooking, I’m going to miss her making Atole de Harina and Buenuelos.  We will all miss her with her pink rollers in her hair and in her dresses she wore.  Grandma was always cooking, I myself Anthony, will hold on to memories when I use to go with her to bingos held on Sundays at the Cuauhtemoc Hall and will remember watching “El Chavo Del Ocho” and “Chespirito” with grandma.  Grandma loved to have all of us over for the holidays. We would fill her house with joy and just having us all together would make her happy.  She loved when we would surprise her.  We all love you grandma and we will miss you dearly.  You go be with grandpa and your two sons now.  We will always cherish your warmth and smile, in our hearts, and your spirit, will always be with us.  We thank God for giving her to us for as long as we had her.

She is survived by her sons, Julian Cordero, Juan Cordero, Guadalupe Cordero (Maria), and Jesus Cordero (Sylvia); daughter, Janie Berner (Danny); sister, Olivia Arzola; with 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and with numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 4:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Los Angeles Funeral Home … 300 Cheatham St. … San Marcos, TX. with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., in St. John Catholic Church…124 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, TX. …. Rev. Father John Boiko will officiate.  Memorial Service will be celebrated at a later date.
