Obituary of Maria Elena Gonzales

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Maria Gonzales, age 59, resident of Kyle, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Monday, December 9, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Sr. & Carmen Gonzales; brother, Albert Gonzales.

Maria Elena grew up in Kyle with her four brothers and several cousins that were more like brothers and sisters of a big happy family.   She worked at Art Carved, Marshall’s Gas, and Crestview RV Center where she made life-long friends.  She loved caring for and spending time with her nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Tia Nena.  She loved them dearly and had an abundant impact in their lives.  Maria Elena also cared for Adam David and Veronica since they were infants and they loved their Nena and she considered them part of her family.

Maria Elena was a kind-hearted caregiver to many and cared for her mom unselfishly several years.  She was humble at heart, so much like her beloved mother, Carmen.

She loved her lotto tickets and had lots of luck winning quite often.  Her favorite things included taking rides out in the country, good food, family gatherings, and purchasing gifts and making goodie bags for her nieces and nephews.  Her family always requested and looked forward to enjoying her famous potato salad at family gatherings and she had great pride in preparing it her special way, chopping up everything just right.

Even later in declining health she never lost her humor, even amongst her doctors and caretakers.  Very rarely was she serious.  She dealt with and overcame many health challenges and always kept her faith, making the best of her situation.

Her greatest pride and joy was her son, Miguel Angel.  He was the joy of her life and she always gave him encouragement and unwavering support in spite of ailing health.

She will be greatly missed and remembered for her strong will and love of family and friends and our Lord.  Her favorite song simply said it for her:  “And I, I’ve only got one life to live, I’ll let every second point to Him, Only Jesus.”

She is survived by her Son, Miguel Angel Gonzales; brothers, Antonio “Tony” Gonzales Jr. & wife Esperanza, John Gonzales & wife Rita, and Martin Gonzales & wife Diana; sister in law, Maria Carmona Gonzales; and with numerous nieces & nephews and many more loving family and friends.
