Our beloved Maria Delia Serrano, age 79, resident of San Marcos was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
Maria Delia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43yrs. Pete Serrano Sr.; parents, Pedro Sr. & Casilda Selvera; brothers, Pedro Selvera Jr. & Paul Selvera; sisters, Beatrice Pacheco and Mary Lara.
Maria Edelia”Delia” Serrano was born in Kyle Texas June 30, 1940 to late Casilda & Pedro Selvera Sr. She had great memories of her childhood when they move from Kyle to San Marcos Texas to reside on McGee street, where she grew up amongst greatest friends. She worked at Pappas cafe in late 50’s when she was approached & sponsored to run for Queens of St. John Catholic Church in 1958 & crown “Queen”
On June 12, 1958, Delia Selvera announce her betrothal to Pete Serrano & were married August 24,1958. She worked at San Marcos Baptist Academy until she was approached by her husband to help him in his new business; Pete’s Upholstery Shop, where he show her the art Using an industrial sewing machine. She enjoyed assisting customers in their selection of fabrics and style, forming a special bond that has carry on for several Generations. The love and passion that she had for her business of 57 years that is still ongoing.
She had 3 son; Pete, Roy, Steve & daughter Vera. She would call out her son names starting from Pete until the correct name was called. She took time to attend every football game to see her children in marching band, loved Sunday drive & love shopping for the newest Fashion trend. Red purse, red shoe.
She is survived by her daughter, Vera Serrano; sons, Pete Serrano Jr., Roy Serrano & Norma and Steve Serrano & Raquel; brother, Alejandro Selvera & Carmen; grandchildren, Matthew Serrano and Tristan Serrano; and with other loving family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m.- 4:00pm, Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church … 624 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, Tx. with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father Jairo Lopez will officiate. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
