Our beloved Leonor Mercado. age 91, resident of Buda, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56yrs, Odon Mercado; parents: Maximino & Isabel Torres; brothers, Irinero Torres, Max Torres Jr., and Paul Torres; sisters, Maria Torres and Angela Villa. First and foremost, mother was a devout Catholic…teachings of Christ. She prayed daily in front of her makeshift alter. Mother was a most loving, caring, and generous lady whom even when faced with adversity remained positive. During her early years, she along with our dad were employed doing laborious work such as picking cotton. After a few years of being a stay-at-home mom, she found employment as a nanny/babysitter with well known and respected families from the Kyle/Buda area such as the E. Abernathy, A. Busse, and R. Rodriguez families. Mother enjoyed watching soap operas such as Dark Shadows, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. On some days she could be found relaxing in front of her old antique sewing machine or listening to Spanish music, especially Racheras. Furthermore, mother brought joy to her family from her delicious home cooking. Leonor warmth, love, and laughter will dearly be missed, but her legacy will be carried on through her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Alicia Mercado, Rosa Ramirez & Jesse, Oralia Mondragon & Jorge, Sylvia Hurtado, Lupe Espinoza & Reynaldo, and Helen Castilleja; sons, Max Mercado Sr. Mario Mercado & Rosemary, and Benny Mercado; brothers, Ignacio Torres, and Willie Torres; sister, Anita Martinez; grandchildren: 20; great grandchildren: 30; great, great grandchildren: 9; and with other loving family and friends.
