Obituary of Polly Z. Ortega
Please share a memory of Polly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Polly Z. Ortega, age 86, resident of Austin, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Polly was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Abraham Ortega and second husband, Phillip Mercado Ontiveros; and mother, Louisa Zapata.
God saw you getting tired. And a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered, “Come to me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away; although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
Polly brought the world around her to life with her constant smile, jokes and witty sense of humor. With a joke never far from her mind and a ¬¬smile that lit up every room. We are filled with pride when we think about how much she meant to our family and the people who knew her.
Passionate about her family, dogs and the Texas Longhorns. She spent most days with her and Phillip Sr. at the Barber shop scratching off her lottery tickets. Many of the customers became her friends and eventually extended members of our family. Her passion for always being there for her family and doing what she could for us and others has always inspired us to do the same. She taught us to be strong, honest and loving people. No matter the issue, she never gave up.
The last ten years she has been a resident at the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. During her time there she was prom queen and made many friends. She would love it when her grandchildren would come and visit because she always had homemade beads to give them that she made during her crafting days She also loved Bingo and was very lucky. She was notorious for always having a collection of homemade beads on. She was a very colorful person in more than one way.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all they have done over the last 10 years. She enjoyed her time there interacting with the staff and all the activities they provided for them to do. She made several lasting relationships.
