I worked with Rick as a young officer while stationed at NAVICP from 2010-2013 and had the chance to check in with him each morning to talk shop about the happenings on the Groton waterfront. Great leader, gregarious personality, and a tremendous teacher of all things Navy Supply. I smile every time I think about Rick. Great man. Fair winds and following seas my friend.

Rosie&Rick started out as part of our military family. Richard looked after me and mentored me on my first submarine as a newly pinned CPO. Rosie looked after Claudia while we were deployed. Our friendship soon grew as we raised children together, traveled together, partied together, laughed and cried together and became more like brothers and sisters together.
Richard was a big man who had a heart as big as he was and Rosie is a spitfire who taught us to stand up for ourselves. Now that God has called Richard to His altar we will have to wonder how that little spitfire is doing? Fortunately she has Nicki, her two grandchildren and many others who care deeply for Rosie&Rick and now for Rosie as she goes forward in her life. This I firmly believe is what Rick would have wanted. God bless you and Richard. Claudia and I will pray for you two often.

Met Rick back in the early 70s, both young submarine sailors out of New London. Worked together at the ILO site in the early 80s and again after our navy retirements as Waterfront Reps for NAVICP then NAVSUP. Great guy, good friend. Rest easy.

Great man who helped many sailors professionally and personally. I’ll never forget his mentor ship and friendship and our motorcycle trips to Laconia. Rest In Peace Rick!

I was profoundly sad to learn of Rick’s passing. When our paths first crossed back in 91, I knew then that we would be friends and shipmates forever. The Naval supply community has truly lost one of its best Storekeepers and logisticians. When “cruising” returns, I’ll definitely have Guy burger & raise a Mojito in honor of my cruising buddy. Rest in Peace Uncle Rick.

Rick was a great Sailor and friend. He filled the room with his kindness, laughter, and knowledge. I was honored to work with him at NSSC New London and I enjoyed his stories and learned from his knowledge of the supply system. Rest In Peace.
