Obituary of Catalina Saucedo Rangel
Please share a memory of Catalina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Catalina Saucedo Rangel, age 86, resident of San Marcos, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
Catalina is preceded in death by her husband: Jonas Espinoza Rangel; parents: Victor Sr. & Luz Saucedo; sister: Josefina Saucedo; brothers: Juan Saucedo, Enrique Saucedo, Manuel Saucedo (Mauricia), Jose Saucedo (Norma), Victor Saucedo Jr. (Frutosa), Guadalupe Saucedo (Frances), David Saucedo and Francisco Saucedo; great grandchildren: Angel Daniel Rangel, Baby Girl Banda and Angel Abel Deleon.
Catalina better known as Kata was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
At a very young age she started working in the fields along with her siblings in Indiana.
Her family made their way to Texas making San Marcos their home.
Where she met her Only love Jonas Rangel
They married in 1964 and started their family having 4 beautiful children. Though mom and dad went their separate ways they always respected each other but the Love was definitely always there & shown no matter what.
Mom always had 2 full time jobs to make ends meet for her children and once they were grown her job as a mother didn’t end there, she would go on to raise some of her grandchildren whom some she did adopt as her own. She was the rock of the family & no matter the circumstances she made a way. Not the kind of woman that would break easily. Though she may have been a little lady, she was a tough one! one of the strongest women I know & fearless, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for any of us.
Her joy came from her grandchildren, she loved to talk and brag about them all. Her life was dedicated to her family and many of our friends considered her a grandma too. She had a way of always making you feel welcome and part of the family. You could walk in the door and almost always find her in the kitchen cooking or cleaning.
“katy the cleaning lady” was one of her many nicknames along with “little grandma”
Be careful what clothes you leave laying around cause she will wash it…most likely shrink it and Bleach it, but what could you tell her? She meant well.
Grandma was very independent and a hard worker. She worked at Walmart for many years where she started off cleaning, moved to the clothing department and finally door greeter
Where you could always find her smiling face and never leave without her sharing a story with you.
She always thought of her family and would be so excited to gift you what she found in the clearance section. You never missed a sale in children clothes because she would be quick to call and tell you the sales and yes you can use her discount too.
Though she was always hard at work she made time for her Bingo.
Bingo was her fun that many of us had the pleasure of joining in on. She would be ready with her Bingo bag full of markers and a Coca cola that she always kept nearby. but you better be on time because she did not like to be late. She was very punctual and will leave you behind.
Her cooking always brought us all together
homemade food made with love and our family favorite enchiladas, flautas and tortillas, because in her words
“yo si soy mujer”
She had a big loving heart, the one you could call at any time for anything and she was there, no questions asked. Ready to help or give in any way she could. But don’t mistake her kindness for weakness.
She was a woman that would tell you straight up about how she felt with no filter.
She was strong in her faith and instilled that inside of all of us. Mom prayed for everyone every day and I know those prayers are still protecting us all today.
Our hearts are sadden that you are no longer with us physically. Family gatherings won’t be the same without you as you meant the world to us all.
This isn’t goodbye, just simply see you later
WE LOVE YOU MOM.
She is survived by her daughters: Sylvia Rangel, Rita Rangel Rodriguez (Roy Jr.) and Jessica Rangel (Drew); sons: Jerry Rangel Sr. (Pamela), Danny Rangel Sr. (Gina), Justin Jonas Rangel (Kimberley) and Danny Rangel Jr.; brother: Miguel Saucedo (Lupe); grandchildren: 16; great grandchildren: 40; great, great grandchildren: 1; and with other family members and friends.
