Obituary of Lazaro Regino Rocha

Our beloved Lazaro Regino Rocha, age 92, resident of San Marcos, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.
Lazaro is preceded in death by his parents: Juan & Jesusa Rocha; brother: Abraham Rocha; sisters: Clementina Castro and Daria Rocha; grandchild: Juan E. Rocha; great grandchild: Erik Petersen.
Lazaro and his beloved wife Julia were married on November 19,1950. Shortly after in 1951 he was drafted into the Army at the young age of 22 yrs. He had to leave his pregnant wife behind to serve his country. He fought in the Korean War and returned home. Upon arriving his mother Jesusa was very ill and passed away 5 days later, leaving him and his wife Julia to care for his 11 younger siblings and a child of his own.
A couple of years later Lazaro and Julia moved into a home of their own and were able to have a family of their own. In 1958, He started working at Aquarena Springs while his wife stayed home to care for their 5 children and later on their grandchildren . He retired in 2008 after working 50 yrs. He loved when his children and their families would come to visit him. His face would light up and he had the cutest giggle. He loved to travel to California with his wife to visit 2 sons and their families. His hobbies were gardening and home improvements. He loved to share his talents and wisdom with everyone. He loved to tell stories of his time served in the Korean War. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Lazaro has impacted so many lives from the kindness of his heart. He is loved by not only his family but by everyone who was blessed to have known him. He was loved most by his wife of 71 yrs, hIs best friend, the love of his life, his Chulita.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years: Julia Moreno Rocha; sons: Armando Rocha, Rick Rocha (Laurie), Lazaro Rocha Jr. (Benita), Jose Rocha (Sheryl) and Andrew Rocha; brothers: Juan Rocha Jr., Donato Rocha and Jorge Rocha; sisters: Maria Elena Ybarra, Irene Martinez, Martha Salgado, Rosemary Aguirre and Elena Gray; grandchildren: Lorilee Cruz Jenny Rocha, Journey Corpuz, Jose Rocha Jr., Laura Valdez, Lazaro Rocha III and Duncan Rocha; great grandchildren: Christian Petersen, Elijah Petersen, Angelica Cruz, Danielle Valdez, Jadenne Valde, Maleia Rocha, Anastasia Carlton, Violet Rocha, Camille Corpuz and Raya Corpuz; and with other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church … 624 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, Texas. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in Reedville, Texas with Full Military Honors.
Serving as Pallbearers: Armando M. Rocha, Jose Rocha Jr., Duncan Rocha, Elijah Perersen, Jason Munoz and Joshua Munoz.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers: Lazaro Rocha III.
The Rocha family would like to thank Christus Hospice, especially the loving care from Roxanne, Cyndi, Hilda, Chaplain Jim and the entire staff that cared for Lazaro.
