Our beloved Martin "Tio Tin" Gonzales age 98 of San MarcosTx. received his heavenly wings on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
Martin is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Maria Gonzales, brothers Leodoro Gonzales and Frank Gonzales. Sisters Sotera Gonzales, Maria Silvas, Petra Cervantez, Andrea Amador and nephew Deacon Jesse Gonzales.
He was born on October 13, 1923 in Fentress, Tx. to Jose and Maria Gonzales.
Lovingly known as “Tio Tin” or “uncle Martin”, he was a carpenter by trade working the surrounding areas. He along with his brother Leodoro assisted with the building of the “Guadalupe Chapel”
He was a very humble and caring man always lending a hand to his neighbors and anyone in need.
His main hobbies were fixing lawn mowers and building model wooden cars and airplanes out of aluminum cans. The carpenter that he was, he had a knack for building things.
Tio Tin loved spending time with family specially his nephews and nieces. His home was a happy place where everyone loved to gather. Spending time with his family brought him much joy.
A man of simple pleasures, he liked watching Western movies (Bonanza), Wrestling, and the History and Discovery channels. Always enjoying his shows with a serving of popcorn.
He never asked for much but a cup of hot coffee with a serving of his favorite sweet bread.. Lemon Crème Loaf Cake.
He is survived by his nephews and niece Ted Silvas (Gloria), John Gonzales (Paula), Joe Silvas, Amalia Gonzales and many great nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2022 with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 29, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church … 624 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, Texas. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in Reedville, Texas.
Serving as Pallbearers: JR Silvas, Marcos Silvas, Isiah Silvas, Jacob Silvas, Edward Silvas and Jonathan Silvas.
