Obituary of Ramon Valadez Ramirez

Please share a memory of Ramon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A quiet and gentle soul, Ramon Valadez Ramirez, a son, sibling, and uncle, was called home on October 19, 2022 at the age of 58. Ramon is preceded in death by his father: Ramon Valadez Gallegos. Ramon was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and moved to Central Texas with his family at the age of 11. An often-sickly child, he struggled through bouts of tonsillitis and kidney infections and, near death on one occasion, was healed through the intercession of Nuestra Morenita de Guadalupe. He grew up in the Catholic faith, remained faithful throughout his life, and was a good steward of the gifts bestowed upon him. Ramon graduated high school and went on to postsecondary studies where he earned his airplane mechanic’s license. His life was a testament to the glory of God that is birthed of challenge and small miracles often not perceived. Ramon had a heart full of love for family. He was generous to a fault and could often be found in a friend’s or family’s driveway and under the hood of their car offering service without cost. Indeed, he would spend his life expressing a natural ability to problem solve what was not working. Growing up, he became the family’s plumber, mechanic, and electrician, and as an adult would often receive calls and diagnose the issue by hearing an explanation of it. He simply loved figuring things out, and on way too many occasions would talk someone’s ear off detailing the ins and outs of the engine. For Ramon, in order for you to respect and care better for it, you had to understand its functional beauty. And if that functional beauty was in the form of a 1972 Chevy Camaro, then the more reason to honor it. On the day of his passing, amidst the sadness and confusion of it all and true to his nature, Ramon sent his family reassurances that all is well, with the song Go Lil’ Camaro Go by the Ramones popping up on the way home from the nursing home and, once home, a knock on the door and a young man sharing the following bible passage: Behold, the tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. Amen and we will see you again! He is survived by his mother: Alicia R. Valadez; sisters: Alicia C. Valadez, Maria Susana Valadez, Monica Valadez, Rebeca Valadez and Maria P. Valadez; brother: Juan Valadez; nieces and nephews: Raul B. Carrasco Jr., Veronica Carrasco, Sofia Valadez, Mateo Valadez, Julian Vazquez and Joshua Lopez; and with other family members and friends. Recitation of Holy Rosary will begin Monday, November 7, 2022 at 5:30 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church … 310 Lockhart St. … Martindale, Texas. Followed with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 6:00 p.m., Rev. Father Rafael Padilla will officiate…. A Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
