Our beloved Juanita Ortiz Hernandez, age 92, resident of San Marcos, Texas was called by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Juanita is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43yrs.: Gilbert Hernandez Sr.; parents: Panfilo & Eutimia Ortiz; brothers: Jose Ortiz and Francisco Ortiz; sisters: Trinidad Suarez and Sara Pastrano. Our favorite memory of our mother was that she would always do a blessing of the sign of the cross on us, as we were leaving from her home after a visit. Her memory of a smile, being kind loving, and always saying thank you to us for helping her will be a part of us. Family and friends remember her smile and her outlook for dressing up and looking her best. She was a loving mother who made sure her children came first and did the best to make sure we had what we needed. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign wars. She also was able to be part of the special minister of Holy Communion. She enjoyed all the Holiday, Birthdays and family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. Our mother enjoyed time with her friends having coffee and conversation. She always enjoyed talking with people. We will dearly miss our mother, but she will always be in our heart, always loved. She is survived by her daughters: Gracie Vasquez (Rick) and Priscilla Svetlik (Darren); sons: Gilbert Hernandez Jr. (Yolanda Sanchez) and George Hernandez (Trini); grandchildren 6; great grandchildren: 10; and with other family members and friends. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2022 with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at St. John Catholic Church … 624 E. Hopkins … San Marcos, Texas. Morning Visitation will begin at 8:30 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church followed with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m. … Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
