Darlis is my mother Jessie Parker Williams' first cousin, but because we were closer in age, I felt like we were the same generation. I will always remember his deep intellectual curiosity, not only in his chosen professional field, but about family ancestry research. He and I bonded over stories, photos, mysteries, and the search for history, for which he had great passion and infinitely more skill than I.
Debbie, I honor the life the two of you built on love from such a young age, and transformed into a soulful journey of family and careers.
I do believe he's sitting at a table laughing with Terry ancestors over tall tales and enjoying one of Ella's famous pies.
Rest in peace, cousin.
Karen Williams Biestman

Today, 11/25/23, you took your last breath. My heart breaks because you are gone from this earthly realm. I am grateful you're not hurting or suffering anymore. I remember Christmas shopping with you for our families. Traveling to Arizona, Nevada, Mississippi, Colorado, Arkansas, Florida, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Missouri and more. We went hiking, saw the Grand Canyon, went camping, panning for gold, we saw the slot canyons, to name a few adventures. You always made sure we were safe and provided for. You protected us when we didn't know we needed it. You were so incredibly intelligent I never fully understood it. You loved your family and created so many memories. You were there while I was in college and for my wedding. You were there when my life fell apart and there when I found love and began to live again. We worked on cars together, you helped us move, we watched numerous movies together and so much more. I remember you putting jingle bells in all of Debbie's Christmas presents. Lol! You also loved decorating for holidays especially Halloween. Then I found out that I had to let you go. You had to start a new journey. You wanted to be with your family in another state. Although I didn't want to let you go, I knew I had to. Never, did I imagine, that I would never get to see you again. I never dreamed that I would never get to say goodbye to one of my dearest friends. Though my heart is ripped apart tonight I know that I will remain faithful. I will be there for your family and wife. I will be there as a friend to hold her up as she navigates through this difficult time. I will be there when she embraces life without you. I will be there as she begins to live a new life on her own. I will be there praying as she becomes stronger from having known you but also stronger from the faith she has from her Heavenly Father. I will pray for her and your family. I will be there in the good times and the bad. I will continue to love them as I love my own family. I will continue to remember the lessons you taught me. Most of all, I will remember you were my friend.

We treasure our friendship with Darlis over the years, since we first met in Oklahoma City in the 1980's. Darlis and Dale worked the sound system together in our church. We four shared many meals after church Sunday - usually pizza!
