Obituary of Jonas E. Rangel

Our beloved Jonas “Sonny” E. Rangel, age 72, resident of San Marcos was called by our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 11, 2017.

Jonas was preceded in death by his great grandchildren, Angel Abel Natal, and Angel Daniel Rangel; Father, Cruz Rangel Sr.; mother, Manuela Ybarra; Stepfather, Jesse Ybarra; brother, Richard Rangel; sister, Patsy Alvarez; Common law wife, Janie Serrano; brother in laws, Willie Cordero Jr. and Jimmy Cordero; In laws, Willie Sr. & Maxima Cordero.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Rangel (Pam), Danny Rangel Sr. (Amanda), Anthony Rangel (Elizabeth), and Eddie Serrano (Cindy); daughters, Sylvia Rangel, and Rita R. Rodriguez (Roy); Mother of his Children: Catalina S. Rangel; brother, Cruz Rangel Jr. (Josie); sisters, Irene Sierra (Johnny), Teresa Rangel Sanchez, Mary Jane Barrera (Richard), and Candy Barrera (Ismael Sr.); sister in law, Cuca Rangel; brother in law, Enrique Alvarez Sr.; grandchildren: 20; great grandchildren, 38; and with numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 2:00p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 ... Los Angeles Funeral Home…300 Cheatham St. San Marcos…Church Viewing from 6:00pm-9:00pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church…624 E. Hopkins ..San Marcos with Recitation of Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church…..  Rev. Father Brion Zarsky will officiate.  Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in, Martindale, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers: John Bernal III, Jarred Bernal, Jerry Rangel Jr., Justin Jonas Rangel “JJ”, Danny Rangel Jr., and Louis Hernandez III.

Honorary pallbearers: Jacob Chris Deleon Jr., Joseph Anthony Rangel, Jayden Rangel, and John Paul Delgado.
