Obituary of Samuel Valdez
Samuel Valdez, resident of San Marcos, was received in the hands of our Heavenly Father on November 17, 2017 at the age of 84. Born July 11, 1933 in Marion, Texas he was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, & friend. Samuel is preceded in death by his loving wife of 30yrs.: Matilda V. Valdez, parents: Celestino Sr. and Gracia C. Valdez, and brother: Ernest Valdez Sr. and sister: Linda V. Hernandez.
As a young man, Samuel honored his family and country serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. He loved his lovely wife, Matilda. When it was their time to relax, it was dancing. When the bands were playing, they were dancing. Samuel was an advent Texas sports fan, he loved the Cowboys, Spurs, and the Houston Astros. And we can't forget WWE Monday Night "RAW". But, his children and grandchildren made the world so much happier and complete to Samuel. We thank the Lord for giving him to us for as long as we had him.... He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. "We love you!" We are your spirit ... your legacy and you and mom will always be with us.
Survivors are son: Rodney Valdez, amd Eduardo Rangel, daughters: Diana V. Williams, Lora V. Cantu, Samantha V. Garcia and husband George, Vanessa Valdez, and Lora Rangel; brothers: Celestino Valdez Jr., Johnny Valdez, sisters: Mary Cervantez, Nina Valdez, Lupe Garza, 11 grandchildren, and with numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation will begin Sunday, November 19th, from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at the Los Angeles Funeral Home ... 300 Cheatham St. Recitation of Rosary will be at 7:00pm at the Los Angeles Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am at St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father Heidle Lopez will officiate. Military flag presentation will follow after the Mass.
A private memorial interment will be conducted at a later date.
