My dear uncle was one of 3 uncles who raised me, Uncle Pete, Ernest, and Tio Raymond, and my aunt's, Toribia, Benita, and Luise. But last, and certainly not least, our beloved mother Maria del Refugio. I was, literally, thrown at them at 9 months of age. Many, many sacrifices were made to keep a baby healthy, and happy. And it continued till I was 13 years old. They worked, and gave up a lot for me. Uncle Raymond even took jobs out of state to support us. He was a hard, hard worker. He loved his wife, Tia Mary, and his two sons. Having had to bear so many responsibilities, the joys of life didn't come easily for him. That made him a bit hard, and crusty. He was hard with me, at times. I felt hurt back then, as I would view his admonishment, and scolding, but they were justified, for the most part. I loved him none the less. Viewing him as an adult, and he as an older man, made me aware of what had made him what he had become. The pains of a hard life took their toll. But he did love, and would gush over his grand boys. You old bugger, I will miss you. I loved you, and will continue to do so, for as long as I am alive. Watch over us all, you and Aunt Mary. You are in a far better place, and know you are at peace. Leonard, and Ramon, Ottie, and Mary Lou, and boys, I wish you comfort, and peace of mind. I miss and love all of you. Abe
