Tia Camila came into my life over 60 + years ago, She was a friend, a confidant, beauty consultant and driver's Ed teacher. She taught my sister, Juanita and I how to drive. Lessons usually ended with her jumping out of the car and taking over as we maneuvered the hills of Southwest Texas. It was difficult driving uphill especially after stopped in a standard vehicle
As we grew and moved, she followed us by phone and mail. It was such fun to visit when we were in town especially during pig slaughtering time There was chicharon and pork sausage making, breakfast tacos made on a wood stove by Chonita and Tia Camila. What a feast it was.
When we were sick she was the first one there with a bowl of caldo or other goodies. Making sure our nutritional, spiritual and emotional needs were being met. She continued with our children and grandchildren spoiling them with homemade tortillas and butter. Yummy.
We are going to miss her, her hugs, her kisses and unconditional love. Rest in Peace May the love you gave to So many be passed on to others.
